SongRoots Summer Camp #2 – Aug 29th – Sept 2nd 2022

SongRoots Summer Camp ‘In Person’ will be an intensive five-day singing study & celebration on beautiful Gambier Island, BC.

From Monday August 29th – Friday Sept 2nd we will be staying, eating and singing at beautiful Camp Fircom on Gambier Island, BC. We will enjoy 4-6 hours of singing classes each day – there will be classes on African & Caribbean Song, Early Music, Old Time, Creativity, World Polyphony, Singing Skills, Soloing, Ensemble Singing, Masterclass and much more! 

Our instructors are Pharis Romero, Moira Smiley, Kathy Bullock, Jennifer Scott, Beverly Smith, Sarina Partridge, Stella Sanderson, Kaitlin Foley and Karla Mundy

To keep us safe, we are working hard to stay up to date with current Covid restrictions and safety protocols. Knowing that this situation is changing and ever evolving, we are currently planning to ask that all participants and instructors be fully vaccinated and we are planning to hold all of our singing and meals,  outdoors (in covered areas)  We are also planning to eat with the same cohort of 8 people the whole time.  I do this to ensure as safe of a working and participating environment as possible. If the situation changes and we can safely relax these measures, we will and I will let everyone know the thinking behind it and the new protocols. (For instance, if testing is available that could be an option – we will see where we are at as the months progress)

To register – please pay the $50 non-refundable registration fee (add to cart and check out) and then come back to this site and fill out the Application below.

I will go through all applications received up until Feb 15th at midnight and if there are a surplus of people who want to stay in the limited accommodations or be in the classes with a participation limit, I will do a lottery! The more flexibility you have with accommodations and classes, the easier it will be to accommodate everyone! Once I have done the lotteries, I will let everyone know how it’s looking and if it looks good to you, you can pay your full fee! (The full fee after registration is $840 (+ GST) This is a new method to try to avoid the computer/wifi race!
